Who are you?

Most everyone is welcome to read my blog, pitiful though it may usually be. Sometimes I update it a lot. Sometimes I neglect it for a thousand other things.

In any event, its only visible to those who register. I ask that you register so that I know who is looking at me! I post family, tech and any other topics that interest me, always family rated.

You won't get spam from me and I won't sell your email address to tho anyone - none of that nonsense - its just wise to know who you are talking to online. Don't you agree?

Use the links at left to register and tell me who you are - and if our connection is business related, recruitment related or if we are friends - then I can make sure that what you see here is of most interest to you.

Thanks!

d

Mountain bikes

We have entered that phase of childhood that calls for newer, bigger bikes. Mountain bikes to be exact though hills of any size are yet to be challenged. Dad got one too, with a wider, cushier seat for a wider, cushier old butt. The exercise will be good. The rest remains to be seen.....

Geotagging with Eye Fi and Nikon

So the Eye Fi card works pretty ok....it will show you with 10 miles or so where you were taking pictures at - not great but better than nothing. Pictures taken at the Apple store showed up as Germantown Road and I40..... or about 10 miles off. Apparently the 70% US coverage advertised does not include Cordova or Memphis.

Six Flags Over Texas

Had to be there anyway to watch my niece graduate high school, so it was a good chance to go back to Six Flags - went to the one in St Louis earlier in the year and had not been at the one in Texas since I was a kid - it was nice and a good time was had by all - except for a little roller coaster drama....... :)

Locks of Love

8/22/07 - Echos of an original geek.

The best computer people are always a little out of step with the real world.....everybody knows that. Aging does more to bring them in line than any social or corporate expectations. Case in point.....not exactly a corporate poster boy to begin with.

Longish but conforming rebel

I have twin daughters - 8 years of skill at making the house shake as they run screaming from room to room, looking for a lost cat we never even had. Typical hellions. But when a class mate of theirs became a patient at St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, it was a sobering reminder of why we must not take such gifts for granted.

During this time, the kids and the parents became aware of "Locks of Love" - an organization which makes wigs for kids who not only have to suffer the treatments of childhood cancer, but they have to suffer the cruel remarks and behavior of other kids. The kids wanted to donate some hair - seem like a good idea so the dad did too. We're still on track - and its a good lesson. Based on the stares, you'd think people have never seen an aging hippy before! lol. :)

Just plain ole rebel
